Meet The Candidates...

Why John McCain
John McCain is an experienced conservative leader in the tradition of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Ronald Reagan. He is a common sense conservative who believes in a strong national defense, a smaller, more accountable government, economic growth and opportunity, the dignity of life and traditional values.
Election 2008: What's at Stake?
America faces a dangerous, relentless enemy in the War against Islamic Extremists - We face an enemy that has repeatedly attacked us and remains committed to killing Americans and the destruction of our values. This election is about who is best prepared to lead and defend our nation and its global allies as Commander-in-Chief from day one.
America is at an Economic Crossroads - Government spending is out-of-control. A Democrat elected President will join hands with a tax-and-spend Democratic Congress and subject Americans to enormous tax increases.
Americans want judges who will strictly interpret the law and not legislate from the bench - The next president will appoint many federal judges and perhaps even a Supreme Court justice.
Americans have lost trust that their government and its elected officials will serve the Nation's interest and not their own. Special interests have too much influence in Washington. John McCain will bring spending under control, veto wasteful, pork-barrel spending bills every time, and keep taxes low. He will reform a tax code that is too complex and too burdensome. John McCain will modernize Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. He will bring accountability, choice and competition to underperforming schools, so our children are equipped to take the best jobs of the 21st century. John McCain is the only leader willing to make the hard calls necessary to restore faith in our government and build a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.
John McCain...Courageous Service, Experienced Leadership, Bold Solutions.

Craig Williams - PA 7th Congressional District
Restoring the Voice of Local Residents in Washington, DC
My name is Craig Williams, and I am running as the endorsed Republican candidate for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. I am running for Congress because I believe that the citizens of the 7th District have lost their voice in Washington, DC.
I do not view the job of Congressman as a political springboard. Rather, it is about taking the everyday worries and concerns of local residents to Washington, DC for action. My life-long commitment to public service guides my firm belief that the job of Congressman is about serviceto my neighbors and community - not self promotion or partisan, ideological platforms.
As Congressman, I will put my experience -- as a former federal prosecutor, Marine combat veteran, and former active duty Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff -- to work for local residents.
With your support, I will fight to ensure that our military and intelligence community have the tools they need to root out and fight terror, wherever it may exist. I will fight to secure our borders and put an end to illegal immigration. I will return fiscal discipline to our nation’s capital and fight hard to keep the hard-earned money of my neighbors in their own pockets. I will put my experience as a former federal prosecutor to work to combat crime and ensure that local law enforcement agencies have the resources and funding they need to keep our communities safe. I will work to empower parents by returning control over their children’s education. And I will work to reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil and reduce energy costs.
With so many critical issues facing our country, we cannot afford to sit by and allow our nation’s future to be determined by the liberal leadership of the Democrat Party. I hope I can count on your support in the coming weeks and months to ensure that the voice of local residents is restored in Washington, DC.

Michael Vereb - Rep. of the General Assembly in the 150th District
(Represents Lower Providence Districts 1-1, 1-2, 2-3, 2-4 and 3-3)
I am running for re-election as Representative of the General Assembly in the 150th District. It has been an honor to represent the residents of the 150th District in Harrisburg thus far. My staff and I work hard to provide the best possible service. I have worked with Republicans and Democrats alike in Harrisburg to focus on the issues that are most important to our District.
I serve on the House Insurance, Veterans & Emergency Preparedness and State Government Committees. I committed to reforming the way business is conducted in the Commonwealth during my campaign – I am proud to say I was appointed by Speaker O’Brien to the Speakers Reform Commission, which has successfully introduced legislation to increase transparency in Harrisburg.
Within my first seven months in office, my first piece of legislation was passed into law, protecting police officers who were victims of aggravated assaults. I also supported Open Records Legislation, legislation to protect open space funding from the Keystone Fund which was being raided, and I co-sponsored a bill promoting energy efficiency in low-income housing. I have also voted for property tax legislation that will eliminate property and inheritance taxes and reduce the personal income tax.
I also held a number of legislative outreach events throughout the district, including several town hall meetings, a Senior Expo, and the First Annual Mike Vereb Family Fun Day, all while connecting with thousands of residents by walking door to door.
While this has been a productive year, there is still more to do. I can proudly say that I held up my promises to work towards changing business in Pennsylvania, reducing property taxes, preserving open space, combating crime and protecting our environment, but I look forward to all that can be accomplished for this District in my years to come.

Tom Corbett Tom Ellis Chet Beiler
Corbett, Ellis and Beiler Look to Bring Accountability Back to Harrisburg
Pennsylvanians who care about the security of families and our economy will be proud of the Republican candidates assembled to run for state-wide row office this year. It is imperative to the future of our Commonwealth to re-elect Attorney General Tom Corbett, elect Tom Ellis to the Treasurer’s office, and ensure that Chet Beiler is our next Auditor General.
Tom Corbett is the current Attorney General of Pennsylvania and is running for re-election in 2008. He took the oath of office on January 18, 2005, dedicating the resources of the Office of Attorney General to make the Commonwealth a safer and better place for families to live, work and grow.
Declaring that public safety is the single most important service that government can provide, Attorney General Corbett specifically made four campaign promises which he successfully fulfilled in his first term. First, Corbett created the Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit to identify and capture Internet predators before they can harm children as well as to educate kids and parents about online threats. Since its creation in January 2005, the Child Predator Unit has arrested more than 120 suspected Internet predators.
Tom Corbett also created a Public Corruption Unit to investigate and prosecute cases involving public officials and government employees - stressing the importance of the Attorney General as "watchdog" to protect the citizens of Pennsylvania from abuse of power, government corruption and the criminal influence of gambling.
Protecting Pennsylvania's senior population from fraud and abuse is another priority for Tom Corbett. The Commonwealth has the 3rd largest percentage of seniors in the U.S., making Pennsylvania a prime target for criminals and scam artists. The Attorney General formed an Elder Abuse Unit to bring together enforcement and educational resources to best serve this vulnerable group.
Lastly, Tom Corbett is dedicated to vigorously fighting illegal drugs, working closely with local, state and federal law enforcement to halt drug trafficking into Pennsylvania and reduce the drug-related crime that endangers communities across the Commonwealth.
Montgomery County’s own, Tom Ellis, is the only candidate for State Treasurer with over twenty-two years of public finance experience. Now more than ever, our government needs to be vigilant with our tax dollars. Tom Ellis has spent his entire professional career using cutting-edge financing techniques to help government become more efficient and to be more responsive to the needs of the citizens. Ellis believes that this should be the number one priority of any public servant and his record reflects this.
From reducing Montgomery County taxes multiple times and refusing a county salary, to protecting our children and preserving open spaces, Ellis’ experience has afforded him the unique ability to bring innovation and accountability to government.
Hailing from Lancaster County, Chet Beiler is eager to wake up each morning with the singular goal of protecting your tax dollars. As Auditor General, Beiler will act as a watchdog, not a lapdog!
Chet Beiler has laid out for specific priorities he will address as Auditor General. First, Beiler will empower our auditors and honor their findings by systematically making audit results public. Second, the level of performance audits will be vastly expanded. Third, as an independent fiscal watchdog, Beiler will not play favorites. No government department or entity will be off limits as the Auditor General seeks to protect your tax dollars. Lastly, the Auditor General’s office will hold quarterly press conferences to report on our progress.
Be sure to support our principled candidates for our Commonwealth’s top offices who have the knowledge, experience, and drive to not only run successful campaigns for statewide office, but also best serve Pennsylvania taxpayers once elected.
